Racing Division
About Sprint Racing:
Canoe and kayak sprint are two disciplines that are growing in popularity and are featured in the Summer Olympics. In flatwater racing events, paddlers race on a straight course, each boat in a separate lane, over three different distances: 200m, 500m and 1000m. In a kayak, the paddler is seated and uses a twoblade paddle, while in a canoe, the paddler is kneeling on one knee, and uses a single blade paddle. There are kayak and canoe events, in single (K1/C1), double (K2/C2) and four boats (K4/C4). |
About Racing Development:
Racing development is designed for kids who are interested in learning the skills of competitive canoe and kayak paddling. Our program is designed to promote fitness and provide training in sprint canoe and kayak racing in a fun and safe environment. Depending on the skill level, paddlers may be encouraged to attend local regattas.
